Shed Help

Our columbian shed the other day and got himself pretty clean, but there’s still quite a bit left on his tail. I suspect this is partially because his tail is still healing from a partial removal that happened before we got him; he’s notoriously furious if anyone touches his tail in any way shape or form. We’ve soaked him a couple times and he bathes in his pool pretty regularly. Still working on building trust with the little guy, so wondering what we should do to help without terrorizing him?
Temps are fine and humidity in air is good; having a little trouble keeping up substrate humidity.

The tails almost always shed last I wouldn’t worry to much yet. Sevs tail normally sheds about a week after the rest of his body

Oh okay thanks! I’m still getting used to the shedding in stages thing. With my ball python it meant you failed at humidity if they didn’t shed in one piece haha!

The ball python lesson can, can, apply to tegus if the tail won't peel off, and a hide with moist sphagnum fixes it. As Zyn says, the tail sheds last. Even two weeks later is fine. Fish oil and a moist hide do the trick for mine. Slowest for my lizards' tails is with first shed of the season after 4-5 mo. sleep.
