He is a red Argentine, he went down late November. I got him from an expo for $125. He has never had any temperament problems, very tame for a baby red.

I keep waking him up just to go out and get some sun because it is unbearably hot here. Ive attempted to feed blueberries and ground turkey and he just licks them but wont eat.

His lights are on his reg schedule. When I do take him out he is active, he is walking around normal.

A picture of him from an hour ago.

I don't think hibernating from November to June is necessarily a problem, but it is time to start waking up. I've heard/read Bobby say 'Reds do everything late'. Meaning they wake up later, breed later and go into hibernation later.

I agree with what Montana is suggesting. Arrange for him to have an outdoor enclosure to keep him in for a few days (at least). The natural sunlight will do him good. Be sure to provide shade from direct mid day heat/sun and a place to burrow.

Continue offering bite sized meals and increase with his appetite.

Depending on your location and weather keeping him outside for a bit supervised could help. But I wouldn't wake him up to do it,.. it sounds like he's slowly coming out of hibernation on his own. From the pic his body condition looks good and he still has a thick tail. So I wouldn't worry too much about him not eating right now either.

Thanks guys. Yeah I totally agree with his weight looking good, that is the only thing keeping me from freaking. The thing is he actually isn't waking up on his own at all. Anytime he is out it is because I am waking him. Which has been about once every two weeks for the past month. I would have known if he had woken on his own because when he digs back in he throws mulch in his water.
