Hi everyone,
We are receiving our first chacoan tegu (yearling) this week and have been preparing his enclosure. My question is about substrate. We are using 75% coconut husk medium chips and 35% Eco earth. Does this seem okay? We filled approximately 6", mixed thoroughly. Most of the substrate is the compact kind and it appears pretty moist (we did ring all extra water out of the mix). Maybe this is normal or maybe not? How moist should the substrate be? Would it be a good idea to put heat lamps up top to dry out a little?
Are tegu is set for delivery in 4 days and want everything as habitat friendly as possible.
FYI: Our enclosure is indoor (we live in Canada)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Bobbi
