From everything i read,it Sounds like your tegu is just being a tegu. They like to burrow and like mostly any new reptile in a new space they need a chance to explore it and get use to it. You just got it so give it time to adjust.

Have you checked this out yet? Pretty good read and really helpful.

Sounds normal from all the research i done,as long as your set up is ok and she is eating and shedding your cool. Just try and feed on a huge plate/bowl or something if your feeding in the enclosure so no substrate will get mix in with the food and ingested, ingested substrate could cause an intestinal blockage aka Impaction. Try and get your self a feeding bin if you don't have one.

New tegus will take a few weeks to adjust to their new surroundings. One of the big this to do is not to dig them up. If they are eating and drinking then its a good thing. Give them about two weeks to adjust before even atempting interacting with them. Tegus become tame based on trust and it takes a while to build that trust.

Theres a huge list of things you could feed these guys including fruits and veggies. But in Varnyard care sheet it stated most tegus are completely carnivorous as hatchlings so when under a year its mostly Insects,Rodents and raw meats, but offer fruits and veggies still to see if he takes it (Good thing to have in there diet i hear) i am going to offer it as much as possible when i get my tegu.

Heres a tegu food list, listing basically almost everything you can feed them,I printed this out.
