Hey there,
I'm a reptile-lover and have been keeping reptiles for the last 24 years. 6 Years ago I've bought my first b/w tegu Shinzabouro Zouki. He was +/- 1 year old and attacked everything that he saw. After having him for 6 months I finally was able to enter his enclosure without him attacking me. Unfortunately shortly after that I had to sell him. My husband didnt want him around our baby. Although I've had him for such a short while, I was totally fascinated by tegu's.
Now 6 years and 3 kids later I convinced my hubby again to give me a 2nd tegu. Biggie is a red tegu +/- 3 years old and my sweetheart. I bought him a year ago and he was already really tame and he's great with kids running around and our big dog.
I've registered here to see how other people handle/take care of their tegu's.
greetings from the netherlands

Awesome looking red - cool pic with your dog...

Many different ways...Many.

For ease of simplicity:

Just like your first tegu he'll need lots of:

UVB from a lamp or natural sunlight

good food(s) - ground turkey, chicken gizzards, mice (dead or alive), eggs (not raw unless you separate the yolk from the white) and some fruit b/c reds eat more fruit then the other types of tegus (just nothing high in potassium)

A good calcium and vitamin supplement

Humidity 60%+ is recommended

Lots of your love and affection...

Good luck.
