The new addition to my enclosure a 5 month old tegu has not been out for 3 days now so I about to go in and try and dig em out to make sure he's ok. Or should I name t worry because he went into brumation? What do you guys think? Dig em up or wait? Thanks

It's all good I dug em up under the water bin he didn't seem to have an exit hole. Not sure if he would have gotten out but all I know is he went nuts on some roaches and is now basking with buddy all is well

Nice going Dude. I don't think you can't ever not dig them up. It depends on when and why.

Breed might not be the term for this. Among species, Argentines bromate more or less depending on individual and age. Breeds would be so-called Blues, Giants, etc.

Other species would be Reds and Columbians. I do not know what they do for certain. a little homework or weigh-ins from members should clear that up.

I would say with pretty decent certainty that all the members of Salvator do hibernate/bromate, although perhaps some individuals/populations do not. The real question lies with Tupinambis. You will find the odd reference that claims they do not, but then don't show any kind of concrete evidence to back this up. My own personal view would be that they probably can, but in the wild it is probably quite variable as to if they do.
