what type of tegu is this?

I got a baby tegu from a guy who buys wholesale, and he said it was a certain type of tegu. I'm not going to say what type the guy said it was because I don't want anyone basing their answer on what he said. Anyway I don't think he was right. Looking at pictures it doesn't look the same at all...
It has 2 scales between nostril and eye, I know its not visible in the pictures

i know it doesnt show well in the pic but its whole belly is white and hes got a ton of white spots on his back, and gold stripes. and i thought they were argentine if they had 2 loreal scales?

It's a columbian tegu. You'll notice the texture of his skin is very smooth when compared to that of the argentines, which are beaded.

The loreal scale count is a general guideline, but not a hard and fast rule. There are teguixin and merianae that have 1 or 2 scales, or 1 scale on one side and 2 on the other. Exceptions to any rule always exist.

But there is a general appearance to teguixin including head shape, patterning, and skin texture that is a dead giveaway.
