I think some may say something different but I'd never ever go and try to clip their nails. You can't see their veins and blood vessels and you'd probably hurt them. My tegu girl likes to climb as well and this softens her nails a bit. Give your girl some occasions to climb and especially to...
I think vinegar might be a very good solution, the smell himself could work I guess. Ice water might be a good thing as well, eventhough normal water doesn't do anything I realized :-D However I will have vinegar on top of the enclosure from now on
Haha, yeah. If I submerge my head and her the question will be who has more breath :-D
Yeah, I also thought of putting something into her mouth that isn't harmful but will taste awful. Salt or soap maybe. But I also don't know whether those are bad for them. Don't wanna risk her health. However...
So it happens that my tegu girl Travis (In case anybody wonders I was told its a male when I got her but she's staying Travis ;-D) is very very food curious. She is an awesome tame tegu but will bite anything that might attract her in whatever way. Now, after she bit my hands two times something...
I am not sure but it looks like as if there are the bumps a male would have at the vent of the tail on the first pic!
Also the first one looks healthier and stronger!
Eventhough it might be tough: If your Tegu bites you, don't jump away. Let him chew on your hands until he leaves them. Of course desinfect it afterwards! This is the only way he will learn that your hands are nothing to eat if he does the biting out of food curiosity.
Also for his new enclosure make sure that he has much more substrate to dig in and maybe change it to topsoil. This holds the burrows much better. He will feel more comfortable then and this is positive for your taming process. Also check the site for humidity topics as it seems too dry as well.
