My red, every time I take her out always wants to run away. I had 2 beardies that could be held literally for hours without them moving, but I can't even hold my red tegu (replaced beardies) for 10 minutes without her squirming and trying to run. I just don't know what to do to tame her. Also...
I just got home about half an hour ago to find my red tegu (Ellora [close to 2 feet]) not in her cage. I looked and ended up finding her under my book shelf, so i grabbed her tail and pulled (was a very bad and stupid idea). She resisted and off came 5-6" of her tail. I'm very angry with myself...

what do u recommend in protein products besides crickets and rodants and what kind of fruits or veggies, for how long do u think i leave the food in the cage?
My red tegu Ellora is only 8 weeks old, I've had her for 2 weeks and doesnt eat on her own (without being force fed a few crickets). I find her borrowed beneath the substrate under the heat lamp (which the temp is at 105). She's healthy, active, and alert when being held. The employ at the store...
