I like the Kennel. Clean and easy. I'll be moving and renting at first for a year so I need something that isn't going to cause a mess or questioning by a landlord. Thanks for the pics! Sorry, no suggestions for escape proofing.
Thanks Carcharios. How do you have it set up for feeding? You say they "throw" the food in. I know when I feed mine in the cage, she likes to drag the food away and set it down on the mulch, risking eating substrate when it sticks to the food. Another thing that is a pain is her walking thru her...
That sounds about right Bobby. Thanks. However, in the mean time, while I don't have access for an outdoor setting for my girl, (moving in September...) she is kept inside. Inside, she is in a controlled tank with her basking spot and what not so she is constantly out and hyper and wanting out...
carcharios:
Thanks for the Forum Post! I'm thinking of adopting mine away (which may be the reason you posted this), but what you said made me rethink. However, a few issues.
1) I live in Washington. Not sure if the temps are high enough however the humidity definitely is. I could supplement...
Thanks for the compliments. I'll try putting some brick or tiles to help with her sharp claws. I doubt she'd he content enough with me clipping her nails.
Here is my Varnyard girl at almost 1 yr old and over 30inches long. Haven't measured her in a few weeks so not sure how much longer than 30inches she is. She is doing great, however, I wish she didn't have such SHARP CLAWS! What do you all do about these monster scrapers!? She kills me...
My girl does that too. She is careful to avoid it right when she drops a load, BUT she will often turn around and step right in it! As if her cage isn't big enough already to avoid it! I swear she is smart sometimes, and stoopid other times!
Ya I thought about that and almost did but decided not to. I watched the videos on youtube of how you have to revive that stuff and I'm just fed up with preparing stuff. Went the easy route... Plus I don't see great reviews of coconut coir. Is that what you use? If so, in what size enclosure and...
So I spent $100 today plus tax on the pet store supplied mulches. I got three 25qt bags of ZooMed Repti-Bark (Douglas Fir) and 4 8qt bags of ZooMed Forest-Floor (Cypress Mulch). The Repti-Barks were $20 a piece and the Cypress was $10 a piece (but a 1/3 the size).
Expensive stuff but it's what...
What's a "Taggoo?"
Where is the "a" in Tegu? Reporters are too busy to do a little research before making stories... Anyways, this story is going to give another reason to restrict lizards in the U.S.! :(
Hope you find your Tegu soon John!
Yes. What's also annoying is people don't know anything about mulch. Even nurseries. THey don't even know the difference between fir and douglas fir. I learned this through simply research on the internet. Douglas Fir (though called fir) is not actually a Fir. It's just the name! All I can find...
