Tegu with possible cancer in his elbow bone

Hello, I have a 3 1/2 year old blue tegu. For background he has been sick his whole life. He had a wavy tail when I got him, developed sepsis in his tail and required amputation of the tail. He survived thanks to a village of healers and his wonderful vet. He gets blood work in house and sent...

    Recovering Tegu and Shedding Problems

I took him to the vet the very next day. His shed just didn't look right, he didn't look right. His eyes were telling me hey I don't feel good. He now has a bacterial skin infection. The vet thinks his immune system is so down that he picked up the skin infection. If your Tegu every has shed...

    Recovering Tegu and Shedding Problems

I have a Tegu that just fought sepsis for four months and came out healed from it. He was on antibiotics and pain medication for four months. HIs tail had to be amputated to get all the bacteria in his tail. He is still recovering from surgery, he lives in a sterile grow tent with no dirt. He...

    Tail Amputation after care

My Tegu has sepsis in his tail. The vet said he was either born with it or picked up the bacteria somewhere or not basking after eating. He lives in a 6X4X4 house, he has a mixture of organic soil, play sand, and sphagum moss. He has a basking light, and heat light, UVB bar, a flood light, and...

How do you know when it's Guberty

Thanks. He’s not trying to bite today so I’ve spent extra time hanging out by his house

How do you know when it's Guberty

My 10 month old male Tegu has become quite aggressive lately. Just a week ago he was his nice cuddly, wanted to be held self. Now he is trying to bite me, tail whips, doesn't want anything to do with being held. He would prefer being in his enclosure instead of coming out and roaming for a bit...

8 month old with twitching leg

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the kind words and advice. When my beardie was on antibiotics, probiotics were encouraged. I know Tegus and beardies are different so I wasn’t sure if it was a recommendation for Tegus. I’ll have to call the vet and ask.

8 month old with twitching leg

Not so good giving meds. I’ve been bit twice and I feel I’ve lost any trust I had with him. I can put the pain meds in his food but the parasite medication I do by mouth because I need to make sure he gets the meds. Do you think I should try a probiotic during this mess? All he wants to do is...

They gave him Metronidazole 50mg. Give 1.5 CC by mouth every 7 days.

8 month old with twitching leg

I just don’t get it? I’m stumped about this whole thing. I will have to go to Lowe’s and buy all new substrate for him and clean his house thoroughly.

8 month old with twitching leg

Ok, I’m beyond confused. My guy has lose stools so back to the vet we went. They found parasites. How could he have gotten parasites? I understand how my beardie can get them or my gecko but Nigel doesn’t eat insects or worms. Do I need to clean his entire enclosure out now. Thank you for all...

8 month old with twitching leg

Thanks everyone. Should I cut back to once a day then every other day. He eats all his food for breakfast and dinner. Also, is he to old for insects? He refuses to even look at them. I’m new to all this so helpful advice is surely welcomed!
