    thinking about 2nd tegu

That is a very opinionated question, probably the most opinionated one out there...and my opinion is dont do it. Sometimes it works yes and we can all agree on that, but alot of the times it doesnt and the tegus can end up fighting over food, territorial disputes, basking spots, etc etc. Tegus...

    Sheding?

Well i know this has been talked about before, but one thing you could be doing wrong to promote bad sheds is letting your tegu sleep in a pillow for days at a time, they need to be in a cage where the humidity is constantly above 60% otherwise the shed will not be moist enough to come off...

    Sheding?

On a proper diet and feeding everyday while they are growing they can shed once a week, my red is shedding nearly every week and is growing insanely fast, faster than any other tegu ive raised from a hatchling, ill post pics soon

    got another tegu ! :)

Lookin good, only thing I would strongly recommend would be putting atleast one or two layers of primer on that wood for the cage, at such high humidity that wood will start to warp really fast...I used particle board too for my 8x4x4 and I promise if you dont use primer it will warp quickly if...

    I believe hibernation has started

Well if the tegu goes down for almost a week without coming up at all thats usuall a good sign of hibernation, sometimes during brumation they will go down 2-3 days and come up eat something and then repeat, but 5+ days of going down with no signs of coming up is when I would kill the lights...

    I believe hibernation has started

Possibly meant 3 months when they bought him. Anyways, to answer your question some tegus hibernate as early as 2-3 weeks after hatching so yes they can and will definately hibernate at a young age, just seems a little late in the winter to just now go down, but at the same time thats nothing to...

    Eggs and lots of them!!!

Tegus can deff hibernate and most of them do if you let them and have them in proper conditions. They will also brumate and/or not react to winter time at all, its all up to the tegu. But yes, tegus can hibernate for up to 6 months out of the year

    Humidity

When I used to have a screen top before I started building my own tanks, I used siran wrap on the top of the screen everywhere but where the light goes obviously, foil also works its up to you...water bowl could be placed near the heat light as well to cause evaporation

    Tegu not eating

Tegus eat when they want to eat, it shouldnt concern you if your tegu isnt eating much during winter time as that is completely normal, you said hes not hibernating but hes obviously brumating(slowing down eating and activity). Its also still adjusting to the new surroundings im sure so a...

    Golden Tegu *First Post*

Also to add on to what everyone else said, I dont recommend digging him up now or ever, like you said he hates it so hes trying to say stop digging me up, you can start to lose his trust by doing that. Same thing goes for a hide in the cage, you never want to mess with them when they are in it...
