A female gold would fit comfortably in a 4 x 2 x 2, mine is nearly two years old and moves comfortably in hers. They really aren't the biggest of lizards, but still have decent size on them.
You gotta take it bit by bit, as far as i am aware, this species is harder to tame as opposed to the Argentine puppy lizards, lol. I've worked with my female steadily the last few months, and there has been progress. Generally, getting your hand in there, within reason, and letting them see you...
Dietary changes sometimes bring that on. It's common in the GI tract as far as i know. Young tegus can be picky, that is also normal. Just keep an eye on it
I wouldn't allow them to free roam until they get big. When mine was a wee one, she ran out of my room and between my dishwasher and cabinets. They like to squeeze into the smallest spaces when they can.
I have my young one in a 40 gallon breeder with Soil as the substrate and live plants. I'll be converting an old dresser into an enclosure when she gets bigger
Does any one have any suggestions for getting my tegu to eat fruits and veggies when they're offered? Right now i'm just constantly introducing, but she just smells them and walks away until she gets her crickets and dubias :p Any helpful suggestions are appreciated
