    Enclosure Bottom Thickness?

I am going to re-iterate what what said above and say it depends on the support. I would also suggest that if you are going to raise it off the ground a few inches, just put it on caster wheels. This will make it very easy to move around (if you ever do move it)

    Male and Female behavior differences?

I didnt think this behavior was gender related but it didnt hurt to ask. Thank you all for the responses. As I mentioned before I am almost 100% sure I have a male, I was just wondering cause I had caught a few others mention it. I will look for the sperm plugs next time he is out and goes...

    Male and Female behavior differences?

This may seem like an odd question and I dont really expect to get alot of info on it, but anyways here it goes. Is there any behavior differences between males and females? Such as my male after he goes to the bathroom tends to (actually always) kind of drags the base of his tail for a bit...

    Custom Tank Question

I personally went with the break apart method and it seemed to work out just fine. I used deck screws to hold it all together, with counter sunk (so the screw head is flush with the wood) holes. With the screws, you can take them out and put them back in as needed and they generally will hold...

    wont settle down!

Thank you for the reply. He has settled down, shortly after his lights went out he fell asleep. I think he is all good with it now cause when I got home from work he was where he used to always be under the plate passed out. Thanks again. I should have tried the divider that may have helped.

    wont settle down!

I just built a new enclosure for my B&W and put him in it, he has multiple hiding spots, including his old favorite one (a plate I put in his old enclosure as a basking spot) and has been in the new enclosure for around 4-5 hours and has not stopped roaming around and looking like he wants out...

    Show Off Your Tegu Enclosures

here is my little guys newest home just finished it up and put him in it today. Quite the upgrade from the 55 gal he was in. its 6.5 x 3 x 2.5 ft. The white is a waterproof fiber glass (shower board). The edges and screws are all sealed with aquarium silicon. The "glass" on the front door is...

    most common questions people ask.

Bubblz, I like your response to the biting question I am going to use that from now on, seems how he has bitten me before but that was almost 100% my fault, I didnt wash my hands after getting his food around when I first got him. Reptastic, I get the normal pets question form a few people, and...

    most common questions people ask.

Ok since I got my tegu, I have noticed there are common questions everyone who doesnt know much about reptiles ask, when they find out you have a reptile (other than a snake) that has the potential to grow to 4ft. Two of the most common questions I get are, does he bite and what does he eat? I...

    Strange walk/tail position

That was my first thought, so I soaked him for like 30 min and he only went a little bit. I did find some poo in his water dish today, so maybe he was impacted and passed it by himself. I couldn't tell if a piece of substrate was in it or not as his entire water dish was full of substrate. I...

    Strange walk/tail position

So my Argentine B&W, who is around 27-30 inches long, has not really been hibernating but has slowed down a bit. Yesterday he didnt eat anything which I am ok with cause he has been doing that the past few months, not eating everyday and slowing down like I said. Today he did eat two rat pups...

    compare tegus

Tuvok, (named after a character from Star Trek, Voyager) is a B&W male, anywhere between 6-10 months old, and around 26-28 inches. He is smaller than others cause the guy I bought him from is a big time all around reptile breeder and said he didn't feed them to grow them. The little guy eats...

    friends tegu not growing?

so just an update on the status of my friends little tegu. I was baby sitting it this week while she moved to a new apartment and it is now eating super worms like crazy and enjoyed multiple pinkies while it was here, as well as some ground turkey. Anyways I looked at its fecal matter, (when...
