i have a 11month old tegu who's about 30in long and she is constantly trying to escape...everytime i look at her she's trying to climb up the glass to get out...today i watched her try to jump out of her cage and it scared the crap out of me...i was wondering what is causing this...i fed her a little while later and started back up...everytime i go to take her out she just stares at me then walks away...her enclosure is 4ft x 1ft x 2ft (a little narrow i know but a new tank is on the way)

It sounds to me like your Tegu is expressing displeasure with it's cage...

I agree it's a bit small... also double check humidity, temperature and fresh air...

Also another thing to add from what was already mentioned above, do you take it out often, mine seens to really like soaking in the tub, I let it walk around in the bathroom, then I go back downstairs and let it walk on me for awhile, then I feed, by that time its had sometime out and was kinda active, once I place him back in the enclosure he just want to bask for an hour or so, then he goes into his hide or burrows for the night.

Maybe it just needs some more activity outside the enclosure from being in it all day.

thats the biggest issue...everytime i take her out she wants to jump off me and go run and hide...i would love to let her just roam around but hte last time i let her i had to get her from underneath the bed(which was on the floor) Akira doesnt seem to like baths to much as soon as i put her in she wants to get out...i've been waiting for 2 months for my cage...amazing price 7.5ft x 3.25ft x 2.25ft for 50 bucks..i mean you can't beat that it would cost over 80 just for the tempered glass on it...but i can't get her ot either...i do think she feels cramped and it makes me sad but until my tank comes she's stuck in there
