albino genes in reptiles that require sunlight

I have been doing alot of reading on this subject and I would like to hear what people here have to say on the matter.

Albino reptiles are lacking in melanin to protect against uv radiation but require that radiation to properly maintain a healthy life. I have had some very good answers from some members but I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks
