I got this little one back in September, he weighed 5/8 of an ounce. I thought it was an Arg but now I am not so sure??? I posted 2 pictures. He has been hibernating since the end of October at which time he weighed 2 and 5/8 ounces. He has not come out of his den since mid November. I can see him in the corner of his den he created. He moves every couple of days.

dont judge based on loreal my young tegu has 1 loreal scale but is argetine!

Thats an oddball tegu as it shares a lot of traits that both columbians and argentines have...i'm going to go with argentine based on the pattern as columbians have a more sparatic design argentines have more of a repeated pattern. Just wait a month or 2 and offer it some fruit if it eats it you got an argentine if it looks at you like your crazy its a columbian.

I'd put 100$ cash on that thing being an Argi.

10000000000% certain. How is it doing now?

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention. He is very mellow. He has not tried to bite and has only tried to tail whip once or twice. Before hibernation we were getting to the point that if I put my hand in the cage slowly, he would just climb up my arm to get out of the cage. I just want to make sure I provide proper care for him, that is why I was wondering. I was looking at him the other day and I was confused by the single loreal scale, so I got to thinking he was a Columbian. But Columbians dont hibernate? The temp in the cage has been between 59 and 63 since mid-November. It did go up to 67 the other day. I can see him while he is hibernating now and it does not look like he is dehydrated or losing weight. He seems to adjust himself every 3 days or so. I will see if I can gets some pics....its kinda hard to see in the cage. I dont have a hot side right now to the tank. I was just letting him rest.

I'm gonna say black and white as well. All the Columbians I have seen have larger goldish bands dispersed amongst the black bands which yours does not have.

Looked at some juvenile Columbians today in fact & all had what I described.
