Hey so my tegu boris is roughly 5 or 6 month according to the breeder I got him from he is a lovely boy and I was surprised how tame he was when I first got him he’s always tongue flicking had a little stuck shed in his tail but we fixed that he’s always happy to be petted and held let out etc but one small problem whenever I separate my fingers from eachother he believes this to be food and attacks my hand when my hand is balled up in a fist or out straight he’s absolutely fine but open hand he goes nuts it’s not really sore it’s more of a shock just like to know any tricks to stop this before he gets big enough to do any real damage he’s about 2 foot roughly right now feeding on occasional fish some turkey dubia roaches locust some tropical fruits veggies pinkies fuzzies doesn’t seem to be much of an egg fan

Not sure but if you use tongs for feeding, maybe he'll realize he's not getting anywhere sooner or later. Once he associates feeding with a routine behavior, he might let go of the other. I've had an adult bite....my fault, but yes - super painful!!

For raw meats veggies etc I use a feeding bowl I use tongs for rodents so I can move them around make them look alive or else he sometimes doesn’t take any notice to them and insects I let him hunt them out his vivarium so he doesn’t accidentally eat any substrate. Oh I’d imagine an adult bite to be very painful some of the males have huge jaws and even young boris right now his teeth are big.
