my tegu has been burrowing since I brought him home. How long do they normally do this for and how often should I offer him food

My Tegu is a burrower, when I first got him he disappeared underground for a couple days, but once he gets comfortable you will see him out and about more.

My Tegu still spends about half of the day underground.

That's normal tegu behavior Oneguy. Mine are out in the summer mid-morning for 2-3 hrs, then back into their hid box til late afternoon when they might or might not come out. On cooler sunny days, they are out mid day once for a while. My guess is that if not fed routinely as pets, their morning jaunts would be longer in search for food. when they're out they explore some. They really are curious.

Yeah I find on days I sleep in and don't feed him first thing in the morning he is out and about longer, jumping on his lights and terrorizing his cage lol.
