So I decided that scenes Bosco no longer had to be in a 4 foot cage (landlords rule) and I upgraded him I would use his old Vision cage to make Bacardi a new home. Well how do you turn a vision cage into a semi aquatic terrarium. With a lot of paint and some ingenuity.
First start with an empty cage
Next step add a pool, in this cage a 30 gallon tough side Rubbermaid container. And also some wire to act as a form.
Next get about 3 to 4 cans Great Stuff Big Gap Filler. Carefully spay in layers! Oh and wear gloves I did this over a month ago and I still have some of the residue on my hands!
Alright great stuff done, time to coat it… but with what? Oh ya Dry-Loc time!! I put on about 5 coats, not only to help with humidity but also to add a layer to protect it from those claws.
Bacardi wanted to check to see how the build was going. He was mad that the build is over budget and not going to be completed in time.
Spray paint time! A nice rustic brown oh and why not throw in a hammock for good messure.
Add some plants and branches and a clear gloss paint layer to seal everything all nicely.
Set-up a display lights, some more branches.
Final lighting, and final placement, just over the tegu cage seems about right.
Oh can’t forget the glass now!
And of course here is Bacardi enjoying the new place.
