Can I use top soil as a substrate for my tegu (the kind without all the fertilizers and stuff)? Top soil just seems like it would be a lot more comfortable than cypress mulch.

Topsoil is fine, just a pain in the butt to swap out for indoor enclosures and can get really messy. For outdoor enclosures topsoil mixed with cypress works well.
