My second year with my blue tegu, Aurora, started a few weeks ago. It’s nice to see her personality and learn her signals. Unfortunately, she gave no warning that she was going to start brumation. She ate a feeder mouse, veggies, fruit and liver wurst (I mix a bit with veggies to get her to eat those). Next day it was as if a switch was turned off and she wanted only to sleep. I woke her once and have soaked her twice but she’s still holding onto that meal. If she repeats last year, she will sleep for 3 months but I know she has to pass that food first. Letting water drip at the base of her has worked before but not now. I massage the same area and tried bringing her outside (she won’t deficate in her enclosure and likes grass). The grass in the xpen enclosure outside is overgrown so she can burrow but no sign of feces. I would appreciate and suggestions to get things moving. Thanks in advance for any help.
