Reptiles breathe in a different cycle arrangement than us mammals. We are quite familiar with how mammals breathe: inhale, exhale, and if we have a resting pause it is typically after the exhale (with deflated lungs). Reptiles are typically the opposite: exhale, inhale, pause (with inflated lungs). Another big difference is, except in resting states, mammals typically breathe continuously while reptiles breathe sporadically and/or episodically.
