can i feed my sav every day?

I've got a juvie, I've had it for a few weeks now and I've been feeding it every other day. Insects, ground turkey, an egg here and there and I gave it a pinkie rat for the first time yesterday. It ate a pinkie mouse weekly before I got it.
I know theres a big controversy over feeding rodents. I was planning on a f/t rodent every other week unless someone on here thinks differently.

Anyway, I was wondering if I could feed my sav every day but smaller portions. I'm sure its not too uncommon but it seems like its always hungry. On feeding days I let it eat however much it wants to in about 10-15 min. I don't want to end up with a porker/unhealthy lizard. But I also don't want it to become a crab. I know as they get older they get fed less frequently but I've read some people feed juvies every other day, some every day and even some twice a week (which seems odd to me for a baby).
Thanks in advance for your input/suggestions

Most people do not properly care for their monitors and over feeding is one of the number 1 things they do. The key is to pay attention to their waist line. If they are looking a bit thin (thinner than lean) then give em a good meal and figure out from there a good diet. If you feed these animals everyday, they will be fat which is not good. Just as it is not good for humans to be fat. You want the animal to look lean but healthy, not fat and definitely not lethargic. I hope that helps a bit. Just be sure to use mostly feeder insects that arent too fatty like crickets and roaches (just watch the shell content) and the occasional (like once a month) feeder mouse. Small snails are healthy too. But yeah, definitely dont over feed your monitor, most of those people end up with the whole dead monitor at the age of 3 with everything to blame except for their husbandry deal.

Ok cool thank you. It's definitely not fat but not really thin either. Every other day is probably what I'll stick with. I've seem some porkers in person and its pretty sad, not at all what I want.

I would rather feed my Tegu smaller meals every day than larger meals every other day...

While this is the opposite of their natural feeding fequency, it reduces hunger during handling.

I have no evidence to suggest this approach is "scientifically supperior", it's just a hunch I have... The approach works well for me...
