My aunt lives in Gilbert, AZ and saw this driving home. It looks like a monitor to me. What do you think?

Looks like a pet someone couldn't handle when it grew to its current size. There was a 5' Asian water monitor found in AZ back in May of 2010. I wonder how well they can survive in the AZ summers.

From the pose and the mouth it looks like one of those fake plastic reptiles from a toy store, lol.

I was thinking the same thing, somethings off and doesn't look right. But if for what ever reason it is real. If I drove by and saw that, I would've been trying to catch it .

Lol, definitely fake. Its probably used to scare pigeons and stuff. Or just weird out the neighbors, lol. Kinda reminds me of V. griseus.

lol only reason i say that is i've seen the exact same one at a house just down the road from where my mom lives. Its been there for years and growing up i always tried to "catch" it. My mom still remembers the phone call, lol.
