I'm a little concerned about my tegu Akira she has been in a shed for around a month and it isnt coming off...i soak her daily and it comes of literally scale by scale the humidity is at 80 while she sheds and it has been that high constantly she has just gotten over a really bad shedding problem the end of last fall but now i'm worried as what happened to her toes is happening to her whole body...she is also refusing to eat anything except rats or mice i've tried feeding her in her bin like i use to but she just wants to get out...i've put ground turkey, chicken liver, gizzards, hearts, fruit and the only thing she will bite at is rats i try not to feed her a rat everyday but i'm not quite sure on what to do...i know she is trying to shed as all of her colors are extremely dull she's almost a year old and only slowed down this winter i didnt let her hibernate. I was wondering what i should do, should i go buy some of that shed aid from the pet store? should i schedule a vet visit?

Our big red Tegu is the same way, sheds take forever!! Sometimes they overlap! We do many baths and increase his Cod Liver oil in his food, which is tough when he's been hibernating for the past 3 months. I've read rubbing them down with olive oil can help but that seems very messy when they're in mulch.

Yes, olive oil sounds messy.

Post some pics!!

Bulbous toes aren't a problem (unless it's infected), it's when the shed constricts the toe that causes the blood flow to be restricted and they can lose a toe.
