My tegu, Dragonfly, has only been here for three days. The first day I barely touched her to let her settle in, second day i didnt touch her at all (she was buried in the mulch), today is the first day i got to hold her and she's been out cuddling and sleeping with me for about 4 hours now. She hasnt eaten yet, and I know its the cool dwon season but im still paranoid. She's been active today and I tried to offer her some food (ground turkey, liver, gizzard, and chicken hearts. along with a pinkie, then I tried crickets) just to give her a wide variety to see if she would eat but she hasnt. I gave her a warm bath and she's been sleeping since I got her out. Being this is my first tegu, and even though I've read alot, its still different actually having one lol and experiencing it. so tegu's, or at least hatchling, on average how many hours a day are they active and how much of the day are they sleeping? Just so I know, i wouldnt want to bug her while she's trying to hibernate :S. Cause she's been sleepin with me for, like I said, a good solid 4 hours now.

I wouldn't worry for the first month I had my 2 hatchlings they barely ate and slept non stop (20hours daily) . I was going crazy vwith worry! I posted so many questions. And figured they are going into hibernation. So I calmed down. I left the lights on when they were up and off when sleeping. Heated accordingly. Little by little they started staying up longer and eating more. Its been 3 months and they are now up 12 hours a day and scratch at the cage to get food in the morning and attention. I guess they were just adjusting cause where I bought them had horrible substrate.. they were so excited to dig and hide! So much for hibernation...
