Do Males go off food while mating?

Bob has not been eating very much lately. Today he has been jowl popping like crazy and he just was trying to bite Tiny my female in the back of the neck. I figure Bob is feeling amorous. He is actually going nuts at times.

My question is it normal for males to go off food during the mating?
