Look like a lot of work, reptiles close there eyes as a sign of stress in most cases. But it does seem to have worked.

Well, since reptiles and birds are very similar, I liken his response to a chicken's. If you pet a chicken's head down to the ground, it hypnotizes them and they stay there (boyfriend's family has a chicken farm). I put a lot of baby tegus to sleep this way... no adults though for some reason. Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same.

if I do that to my adult he falls right asleep, dont have to press hard at all, just pet him like a dog and hes out ZzzZZzz. alot of docile reptiles do this, young and old. :)
