(with a plate.....lol) because i plan on feeding ground turkey, supers, fruit, some baby food, and mice. also, could you guys give me some more feeding option as for what to feed?

i plan on letting mine out to eat like u say but only when shes older and big enough to not get lost lol at there size that were getting them if they ran off it would be easy to lose them.... i just bought a 40 gallon bin from walmart and will use that with news paper on bottom and just put the tegus food in a small dish... as far as foods u can add scrambled eggs , crickets and beef liver to that list... hope that helps

I agree with Jarett, when they are small they can easily get away from you. The main issue I see is that when you first get them, you will need to tame your tegu and its very difficult if the feeding bin is too large. You need to be able to physically touch him/hold him to tame him, if the container is too large you will find yourself racing after him, just to get to him, which he will most likely see as a threat, making the whole taming aspect nearly impossible.

In a smaller, container, you can make slower movements and he is right there in front of you.

I made mine 4' by 2' about 2' tall, out of 2 x 4's, 1 x 4's and coroplast for the bottom and sides which made it easy to clean and very light (easy to move around).

They will (especially turkey) but it's not needed unless they are sick, in which ase it's usually used to try and stimulate appetite.
