I was browsing the classifieds for rescues when I saw this post. I know NOTHING about monitors but I saw that it comes with the tank, which is kind of cool. The price is steep though!

thanks for posting it but there are many problems with the cage as well as the blackthroat living in it. The cage is only 4ft long and a black throat that is over a year should at least be 4ft if not more. The cage also doesnt provide anything the lizard could use, it needs alots of dirt, hides and a couple 125+ basking spot. That cage would be good for a pair or trio of ackies with everything changed as stated above.

LOL - Like I said I know nothing about monitors!!!!

I did find something interesting though that I might pursue on craigslist....an iguana with a custom 8 ft. enclosure....very tempting...

Has anyone delt with reptileguru.com? I want to get a water monitor, and I like that the have captive bred ones. I am open to getting one from almost anywhere. Id like to avoid getting a rescue, I dont want it to have any personality flaws from previous owners who dont know what there doing.

any info would be helpfull!

Exactly. Before I even got a tegu I was looking into a monitor. But I've never owned one before. Sure I hade a leopard gecko a while back, but a monitor is a huge lizard compared to it. Also alot more carnivorous. A seeing all kinds of documentaries and nature shows would suggest for a more experienced herper. Which is why I got interrested in a tegu. I think I just came across of a picture or something. Then all the good saying of their tameness and such.

...So nope, nothing too helpful either. XD

I've never bought from him but I've heard good things about him. There are several people that offer them. Just watch. Most so called CB are farmed and imported. So they are sick. I would find a UScb one . It may cost more but it'll be much more worth it. I hope your ready to get a room ready for one of these guys. They get huge and need lots of room. An outdoor set up would be idea if you live in a warm climate. Indoors is gonna be tricky with something that big. Unless you got a lot of room like I do. If you do then more power to you. LOL If not I would suggest getting something smaller.
