Frustration- MBD advice

I got my gu' in July and I have been running into some problems with lighting.

EVERY SINGLE UVB fixture/bulb I have bought has not worked or has been broken.

Zoo Med UVB bulbs seriously suck. :rant

Anyway, I am worried that my little guy is going to develop MBD because of the lack of UV from all this madness.

I am just wondering how resistant these guys are to MBD and if I could get any suggestions on a different lighting company.

My gu' isn't showing any signs of MBD but I have a feeling it can become a problem very soon.

Thanks

Try plugging you timer in a surge protector Not a strip .. It could be your timer is going out too ... UV is very important ...If you seem to go through that many bulbs it leads me to think the problem is on your end . There is always the sun ..

I don't know if ur using florecent or MVB (murcery vapor bulbs), but with my luck florecents never last long. The MVBs work great but if the socket is not rated for that wattage they often burn out the bulbs faster. I'd get a surge protector and check the socket with a standard bulb to see how it works. Zilla i think only makes florecent and not a great one at that, could be wrong but thats all i see in the local pet shops, none of the reptile stores here stock zilla bulbs though.

As for how resistant are the to MBD, they get it really quickly and thats just becasue the grow so fast. Proper lighting and a good diet are a must with a growing tegu, even an adult benifits from good lighting.

My recomended bulbs. Powersuns, UV reptile Mega ray, i use to us T-rex MVB but they seem less in use now.

I just put a post about uvb bulbs, in short flukers we've tested the rest of the makers in 2010 and they get failing grades.
