im very happy i was at work yesterday, i work at walmart and as most of you know we sale some animal supplies. there was a young couple that came in inquiring about heat rocks. i asked them what type of reptile did the have; they replied a python(ball) i quickly educated them on the danger of heat rocks. found out all they had was hood on top with flourescent bulb., so i got them a nnice heat lamp and dome lamp to replace that and told them to get a screen lid from petsmat(all we sell are 10 gal plastic lids and they have a 20 gal.) and then i saw the guy with a bag of pine shaving i had to ask was it for the snake and he said it was so i gave him the heads up on pine shaving being toxic. so now i hope that their little snake will be much better if they took all my advice(which i think they will)glad i got to help someone on the right path

Thats an awesome story. I went through something similar when my friend outta the blue was like I was a reptile and I went through everything he needed for a leopard gecko. He thought it would be alright to throw it in a tank with some sand, no heat or nothing.

I really wish people would actually do their research before they just go and buy these little critters. :)

I'm glad you could help them. :D But I get a little scared that people don't know what they need for their animals.

yeah most people just see a reptile in store and think they are cool but have no idea the responsibilty of owning one and most petshops(that i have been too) dont give proper or any care info.

Great Job. People are really uneducated on pet owning. I would have a tough time being a pet dealer and sending pets home to people that disregard proper care for their animals just to save money. If you are tight on money, you shouldn't own pets! Walmart is not a place for pet supplies anyways. Glad that you work there though and were able to help! Props to you.
