Handling a spaz

I have been told to put in a different container to feed, and for the first week to handle him only when putting in food container, ok this is fine but the way everyone says to pick them up, my new little varynyard makes that IMPOSSIBLE. He cannot be picked up by simply scooping. Once my hand makes that appearance he flips and goes spastic anywhere he can. And when he does alot of time he goes into his hide and i know i'm not supposed to disturb him there so do i just flip it over first. I need to know how to get started handling this crazy little fellow.

Honestly, I would keep trying to pick him/her up just like that. They will not like it if you try and restrain them. Is there something of yours(dirty shirt or socks) in the cage for him/her to get used to your scent? Obviously some will take longer than others to adjust, but just keep it up. Be patient and it will happen. Do you have a empty to semi empty room you can take him/her into so it can run around w you around? I have an empty spare bedroom that I take Drex into so he can have free roam and just get used to me being in the room w/ him. I've been handling him alot for the past 3 days, and he's already quite tame for a hatchling. Have you tried the 2 shirt method?
