i just got a new tegu from bobby (argentine B&W).. named it sluggo. the thing is i take it out put it in the feeding bin and feed it its ground turkey and shredded beef liver. he takes 2-4 bites out of it and just runs around to get out.

2ndly he is very skiddish as i even approach the cage he gets defensive and runs to the corner and when my hand gets in he does everything in his power to not get picked up i always manage to get him out (gently and w/o GRABBING him) but am worried about the hassle.

My baby acted just like that and now shes coming up to my hand to climb out to get fed. It help too that i changed feeding bin. the 1st one i have was clear and she tried to get out and rubbed her nose alot on the sides. I went and bough a green one thats not see through and she has been better and eats much better now. You might want to cover up the sides of her cage too if its clear. From what i hear some take longer than others, but at least shes eating. Keep at it!

My feed bin is a clear one and when I put my guy in there he will go straight to the food, eat it, and than want to get out. Every tegu is different and you just have to find out what works for you and them.
