Hatchling survival rate??

Hey there, I was just wondering how easy it is for hatchling tegus to die?? I had a baby sulcata tortoise and he passed away because of a really bad impaction. Baby sulcatas usually are really hard to take care of and so they die really easily. Are hatchling tegus the same or are they fairly hardy? Because I really don't want to get a hatchling tegu and have it die. It breaks my heart. Thanks for your inputs!

I'd say they might be a little bit less hardy than sulcatas hatchlings. It's a good idea to get a tegu baby that has been started on a healthy diet and has been growing sufficiently before bringing him home. No one wants their new pet to die or become sick so it's better to just play it safe and wait until the hatchling has had a chance to thrive a bit.

@Josh where can I find a good deal on a tegu that's been eating and growing but still young enough for me to see it grow up? Or could I just get a hatchling from Ty Park? He said he doesn't start to ship until they have a full meal but that's not long enough to see if they're growing properly. I have never had a tegu before so I would like it to NOT die because of something I did wrong.
