Ok so I am a little concerned for Blender. It seems when My wife are around during the day he spends hours jumping against the top of his enclosure which is screen. I am wondering if this is normal and if he can really hurt himself. He even "stands" on his tail to get higher. It is also I think when the light is on. My wife thinks he is retarded for bashing his brains in.

My take is that Blender is not satisfied with his current set up. Perhaps its not quite big enough for him anymore, temps aren't to his liking, not enough substrate for him to burrow or he simply just does not feel "safe".

My guy settled down when I switched from a 20 gallon long, all glass set up to his current cage: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/i670pd01rXq5JFRurgU2BA?authkey=Gv1sRgCJK9nIWx3evmuwE&feat=directlink" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/i6 ... directlink</a><!-- m -->

He got to a point with the 20 gallon aquarium where he was always restless and trying to get out. I never see him trying to get out of the new cage, he is very content and has his privacy.

:-D Well bro when I seen this post thought Blender was listening to slipknot lol . I think he just wants to free roam or be handled. GUs if bored will try to escape. lol I put one of those balls for small animals with my Adult GUs I have it modified thou the hole is not shut :-D so the mice and rats fall out. The GUs at first didnt get them out. But they figured it out now :-D Smart animals GUs are. So think of ways to keep him busy they are like a kid with ADHD.

I would agree it is most likely either he/she is boredÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ or is unhappy with the enclosureÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦

My girl is now 30Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã? long and lives in a 4Ã?¢ââ??‰â??¢ x 2Ã?¢ââ??‰â??¢ cage. She seems contentÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ but recently sheÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s been free roaming a lot, and has been spending hours on a 9Ã?¢ââ??‰â??¢ x 6Ã?¢ââ??‰â??¢ outside deck. One day when I didnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t get tot her out until mid afternoon, she was climbing upside down on the screen top of her cage. It was so impressive I had to watch her for a while to see how she did it.

3 square feet doesnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t give her much room to roam aroundÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ and if youÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢ve been handling her a lot in the evenings it makes sense that sheÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s a bit spoiled with freedom and wants it during the day too (especially since they are naturally more active in earlier hours).
