I personally don't use night heat on my tegu. Its natural for her to have a drop in temps at night. Her basking area gets into the low 100s during the day, and at night, she cools down to about 70F.
In the morning, when her lights come on, and it warms up, she knows its "day time"....so if your room temp isn't too low, I would say no, you don't need night heat.
Well most peoples homes don't get under 60Ã?â??Ã?°F at night so it's fine. Just check the temp at night or in the morning to see what it gets down to.
So no heating device is necessary unless the Tegu is kept in a cold area of the house like the garage or outdoors. Then you will need to supplement the temperature with covering with blankets and/or using a heat bulb (this is mainly just in the cold months).
When they are hibernating, you don't want heat on at all (during day or night) unless it gets too cold. If too cold, just supplement with heat to get it up to 60Ã?â??Ã?°F maybe 70Ã?â??Ã?°F.
