I have been in the market for a tegu for a while now and picked up a Columbian B&W at a reptile expo. I was looking for a argentine B&W and found one, but there was a Columbian that actually seemed more tame and was easier to handle.

I am quiet happy with my choice, he his friendly, lets us hold him without any issues, very active and won't stop eating. He's approaching 2 feet now and is in a 7 x 3 x 2 foot enclosure.

I do have a couple of questions for you all:

He seems to only want to eat pinkies (Frozen) and ground turkey. He shows no interest in fruit or insects (crickets or cockroaches). Is this normal? I have him on a calcium supplement and a little of the "superveggie" supplement.

Also, I plan on eventully further expanding my collection, could this columbian b&w be housed with a argentine? A red? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks for the input!

I would suggest mixing his favorite things in with some new options to try and get him to eat more...a varied diet is very important!! Tegus wont starve themselves so eventually they will accept new things. As for housing a Columbian with an Argentine or red i would say no...especially if there is a difference in age..plus they just tend to be different so i wouldnt

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you here. Hopefully we can answer all your questions!
I second the post above about mixing in other stuff with his turkey...
Also I would advise against housing them together

Thanks for the replies, he is still eating like a beast, but still not too excited about fruits. I've also done some more research and it seems like there is some differences in their natural climate, and temperature needs, so mixed housing is out of the question.
