Hey I'm Bryan and I live in Boston Massachusetts and today I purchased my first ever tegu she's an Argentine b&w very tamed and loves kiwi, I owned Monitor lizards & multiple snakes, gecko this is however my first tegu and I feel like I'm becoming obsessed all I've done the past 24 hours is look up tegus everything tegus sorta how I ended up joining this forum lol, I already had the knowledge on how to care for them but they're just so interesting I just want to learn more, currently I have her in a 55 gallon aquarium but I will be building her a life time home 7 x 4 x 4 I know she'll be happy in it too but I would love to hear some of your story's about when you first got your tegu? Do you feel how I feel completely inlove? What Compelled you in to purchasing a tegu? And when did you find out this was the right animal for you?

Welcome Bryan. Nice going with your new tegu. Having kept monitors is excellent practice. I keep mostly NA rat snakes and kept groups of green iguanas for 20+ years. After last one passed, I felt time for something different. I have a 1.2 WCs from south Florida. I like their dispositions a great deal. Incredibly personable.

Pleas post a pic of yours.

I fell in love with them after meeting one at a reptile event. I've kept a number of herps, I have 7 snakes, 4 geckos, and a bearded dragon, as well as a bunch of invertebrates, so I was already very active in the herp world. I knew someday I had to have a tegu and I waited until I was able to care for one.

I am very much in love with him, yes. And although the adjustment period has had a few bumps, he's a great individual and I am very happy to have him.
