Hi everyone. Long time lurker, glad to be, first time poster!
I've been researching on this and other sites for a full year before deciding I'm ready for a tegu.
Whilst trying to buy from some well known breeders online with no luck (always sold out Everytime I order). I have been "running" and monitoring the 8x4x4 enclosure I've built (nothing fancy) making sure I can offer proper husbandry and everything was well.
Since all the online breeders were sold out by the time I was assured I was ready, I decided to call a local reptile dealer that I purchased some uromastyx from years ago..... And to my Suprise he had 3 B&W and a red. ( they typically deal monitors over tegus)
Long story short, it looked healthy, was fairly active, and moderately friendly. After some questions about being captive bred etc.... They showed me it was an eater, and I took it home. It's a red..... But not very red at this point but nevertheless I am so excited to be a part of this community.... And maybe one day can have the know how to contribute.
It took offered food after about an hour in its new home and was generally active and curious the entire day so I'm hoping that's a good sign..... I can't wait untill it comes out of its burrow today!... Lol as I type this it emerged!
Thanks again for such a great information database and friendly community!
Sorry for the rant :/
