Hello everyone, my name is Jesse. I am 38 years young and I am from California, US. Earlier this year I purchased am Argentine Black and White Tegu from a local pet shop behind my house. Although she came from a pet shop I do believe her to be wild caught as she still tends to get a little huffy puffy every now and then. But despite her occasional grumpy mood I still love her with all my heart. I gave her the name "Calypso". I would say she is approximately around 2 feet long from the tip of her snout to the end of her tail. She had a nipped tail when I bought her and was seeping a little blood. I'm sure it was because she wasn't getting the correct humidity she needed but since I've had her she more the doubled in size and grew a good 7 inches of new tail. I live in the Lancaster California desert so it is very dry here so I make sure she always has the correct humidity and temperature levels. I am also the proud owner of 22 other reptiles. I am looking forward to posting and reading threads from this forum as time goes on. Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction and I appreciate any and all comments to come from this.

Hi Jesse-a beautiful tegu. I think many of us on this forum keep other herps as well, which helps in care of a tegu.

Hello, I use a fogger as well. My tegu seems to like it as she is always hanging around it. I haven't had any issues with it nor have I heard of them not liking it. How does your tegu act when it's on?

When i turn it on he walks around or basks in the light as normal, but i have heard people worried about foggers being the cause to a repiratory infection. My only worry about them

Hello again Gringo. I haven't heard that until now about foggers and respiratory infections. I am definitely going to look into it because I would hate if that were to happen to my Tegu so thanks for the heads up. The fogger I use is actually very small. It is one I had bought from Petsmart that is the shape of a log. I doubt that it even produces enough fog except for only in the corner where it is set up. I purchased it basically to see if it would work to keep the humidity levels high inside her enclose, but it doesn't. I just keep it in there simply because Calypso, my Tegu, likes to cuddle right next to it from time to time. So what I do is just mist her home right before I leave for work and again when I come back from work in order to keep the humidity just right for her especially since I live in a very dry part of California. Where in California do you stay? I will do my research about foggers and if you find out any more about them please advise as I will keep you updated with what I find. Thanks and good luck
