So I am a very new Tegu owner, like just got him today new. He is just a little guy right now and I am soooo excited! I have a very successful crested gecko colony and I wanted something bigger..... I went really big.
His name is MiGusta, and he is so awesome. He is now however, sleeping. Since I got him at the San Diego super show this morning- I think he was a bit overwhelmed. I also know he may not be a "He" but the breeder said she often gets a feeling based on head shape, it's not an exact science but I'll take it, I can't call him "it"
I can't wait to get to know him better and talk with some Tegu pros here to make sure I have MiGusta on the right track!

The show was good, it got crowded SUPER fast. I was one of the dorks lined up before it opened. I made sure to walk the whole show- then went back and purchased monsters. All three new babies from the show are doing great. MiGusta (who is chowing his breakfast like a rockstar right now) is great, I got him from Varanus, Inc. My male crested from Guyco Gecko is great- I've gotten them from him before and all are perfect. I also got a pacman, but I'm not sure who from....very healthy eater.

i loved my pacman, so entertaining to watch eat! last year i showed up to the show around lunch time and it was pretty well crowded, enough so that i didn't get to see some tables til the second lap. i never get to buy something from shows despite the overwhelming urge cuz I'm always low on funds and high on herps. :p

I am loving my Gu, hes a total sweetie. We are starting right from the start with a schedule. This way he eats breakfast when I eat breakfast and we play and get lovin' after work. I've heard they can learn routines?

Yeah they can. My tegu Kodo adjusted his schedule when he came to live with me and I was still working; instead or rising in the morning he would stay in his bed-spot until mid to late afternoon, knowing he would be fed early evening. Tegus are really smart, perceptive lizards.
