Help, confused about tegus feeding habits

So ive had my tegu for about 4 month or so, at first he would eat a lot, pretty much when anything was offered to him. But recently ive been noticing that he doesnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t want his food some days or just wont eat at all other days. At the moment I am feeding him ground turkey with cod liver oil added but he just doesnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t seem to interested in it. The only way I can get him to eat a bit of turkey is if I add in a pinky hidden within it. He does not seem to be skinny or unhealthy so im starting to get very confused. IÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢ve also noticed that he has been eating the mulch in his cage every so often, IÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢ve tried offering fruits to him in his meals thinking that maybe he is lacking fiber but he wont accept that either. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but im just starting to get a bit worried.

Mine is eating every third day now and I guess that`s normal ..You do know that they slow down and hibernate don`t you ?? If you see your tegu out feed him and keep light and heat up .. Everybody is worried about this time of year there is almost never any reason ...

Ah ok, im sure that is what it is then. I was also worried because my wifeÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s tegu which we got at the same time is now larger then mine and eats like a pig, I am guessing each tegu reacts differently during its hibernating season. Thank you for your reply :)

yes, even hatchlings from the same clutch raised in very similar conditions may hibernate differently.

Mine has hibernated differently from year to year as well...

Gender also has a lot to do with growth rates, which may also have something to do with why your wife's is larger... although I have not found any evidence that suggests gender has anything to do with hibernation...
