Click on this link: http://www.varnyard-herps-inc.com/ and read CARE AND BREEDING TEGUS. This will tell you all you need to know. Also look at the video section on handling tegus.

Best of luck and welcome to TeguTalk! Post pictures of your tegu when you get the chance too, we would like to see what it looks like.

Here's a food list courtesy of PuffDragon:

Here's the care sheet from Bobby's website:

Good places to start will be checking the above two links. Btw, they grow REALLY quick, good luck :-D

I would say defintely read all the links really carefully that the members just gave you, its really important to understand every aspect of these lil guys, ask as many questions as you need.
Ive always had large monitors for over 10+ years and ever since I joined TT Ive been learning something new everyday. There's so much to put into these lil guys and so worth it when you start recieving their thanks (attention).

-Enclosure
-Substrate
-Lighting
-Temp
-Humidity
-Diet
-Handling

Those were all the main subjects you should completely understand asap to have a healthy Tegu. Also making sure you understand which type of Tegu you actually have will help too. Impluse buys arent the best for reptiles/ or any animal, but if your dedicated to providing properly for your new lil guy just take the time "NOW" lol to learn as much as you can to make sure your "both" on the right track

Goodluck, hope to see some pics

The roaches I raise are (B. craniifer x B. fuscus) hybrids. They don't climb or fly, grow huge and breed pretty fast.
