Hey everybody! Just got a 3 month old female red...(pics asap) I have a few questions I was hoping to have answered since we really want to do the right thing for her...

*She is eating 3-6 small crickets and a piece of grape or two a day(1 sitting). Today we gave her scrambled eggs for the first time after she had 2 or 3 crickets and she LOVED them. She ate 2 big hunks and went back to basking. Does it seem like she is eating enough?

*How do i properly soak her? (temp, depth, time) She is shedding right now.

*I have her in a 4'x1.5'x1.5' tank and I am running a uvb/heat lamp combo bulb...do you think its warm enough for her? We are in southern California about 300m from the beach so humidity shouldn't be an issue right? The temp gauge on the glass on the warm side says 90 during lamp hours and 75-80 at night under the blacklight heatlamp...I am assuming its hotter directly under the lamps. I probly need a heat gun huh?
Thanks everyone, looking foward to your input and future contact!

Welcome to tegu talk :-D Soaking I would just put enough water so the GU can still have their head above water. I would use luke warm water. can soak for 30 minutes. set up sounds great.

humidity might still need to be adjusted, if your keeping him inside you house. the humidity inside a house tends to be much lower than the humidity outside. the temps should be fine as long as your tegu can escape the heat (by didding and moving to the cool end of the tank) also about heat guns, you can get one and im sure they work real good, but Ive never used one. I use digital thermometers that are equipped with probes ( 5-10 bucks each). ive kept snakes, a tegu, monitor, and other herps and never had any problems using various thermometers.

thanks mike.. I will go and get a couple of those then to be on the safe side. She didn't want to leave the tank last night but my wife and I brought her out to let her roam the couch/us and she fell asleep on my lap (after exploring the couch) getting her head rubbed, it was really a great bonding moment...how do I post pics on this site anyway??
