Hey everyone! Thanks so much for having me.

I'm here looking for some guidance, but figured a short intro would be nice. I'm 28, and used to have quite a fair reptile collection ranging from large snakes, tiny geckos, to more exotic lizards like roughneck monitors, basilisks, and spiny tailed iguanas. Yes, I did have tegus, an Argentine and a Blue. Long story short, I ended up having to re-home after a nasty separation and subsequent loss of my home.

I'm just now getting back into the reptile scene after about two years, and have a baby Burmese. Of all the snakes I've owned, they were always my favorite. ❤️ I'm predominantly here for guidance on a member of the tegu family, however, as I'm looking to add a 'bucket list' scaley I've been admiring for many years, a Caiman Lizard. I'll post separately on that in a few.

I never really have much to say on myself. I'm a gamer, my two favorite and most played games are World of Warcraft and ARK Survival Evolved(can't wait for the new expac next month). I also draw and I can sing. I have an avid love of all animals, big and small, scaled, furred, or feathered, even the creepy crawlies. I currently persue my adoration by breeding and keeping rats, as well as working as an Lab Animal Care Technician. I also breed and keep ASFs.

And, as I'm sure you all love pictures as much as I do, here's my boy, Jörmungandr, and my rat crew along with some adorable babes from Oakley.

For my rat fanciers, we've got Abel(Marten), Flicker(Light Marten), Kallias(Variegated Dalmatian), Oakley(Dumbo Platinum? Harley), Theo(Dumbo Siamese), Francis(Albino), and Riddick(Hairless Blaze).

Welcome and sorry for your bad times. Good to gear your working through them tho. The caiman lizard is a great choice for a big lizard I'm a big fan of them myself. They just require a semi aquatic terrarium and a big one at that. Good luck on your endeavors.

Hello and Welcome....... Great collection you have, I especially like the rough haired rat (pic 4) I don't think I've ever seen one before.

The caiman lizard is a great choice and very close relative to the Colombian tegu so I've read and If they where more ready available here in the UK I'd probably go for one myself.

Welcome. You've got experience, which will be helpful. Few members on this forum keep them. Will be a learning experience for most of us, too. I most wonder what their dispositions are like?

They're supposed to be fairly docile just like the Argentine from what I understand. I've only ever been able to handle a couple and they both were adults.

Do you know if they're inquisitive like Argentines are?
