My last red was stolen out of my back yard in April this year In July I purchased my Chacoan at 1 month old. Was bought from John at Tegu Terra. The experience was fantastic. No complaints! Posting up some pics and link to my youtube account. I have a couple questions......When do the jowls grow? It was not confirmed that it's a male. Also, what is supposed to be the average weight at 6 months. He is 24" long, 17 oz and 8" girth. Also, I looked online at sexing but I'm still unsure. Last one, how can I tell it is a Chacoan and not just another tegu with a special name? Thanks!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Not sure about average size as all animals differ. Size sounds right for that age.
Jowls will show when it's fully grown. Probably around 18-24 months. Search the forums for sexing guides. I know we have more than a couple

I have heard different things about them. Some say they aren't really different and some say they are their own species/morph/etc. Johnny at Tegu Terra should be able to describe how they are different in his eyes. Have you asked him?
