We just got our first tegu a couple days ago. She is a 7 month old female blue cross tegu whom we named Opal. We are in love already and trying to learn as much as we can.

Welcome.

Depending on cross, expect down time for brumation along with the usual down time associated with stress of a move.

Should we leave her alone for a while? She has been burying herself mostly. Came out to poo a couple times but hasn’t eaten much and isn’t basking either.

hello and welcome ..... she'll take a couple of week to settle in and due to winter times may only show herself every couple of days

Cute little bug!! The initial time it takes for them to settle in to their new digs is different for each. They will surface when they're hungry.
Thank you! Yes- she is proving to be pretty elusive right now. We were going in taking her out for a few minutes here and there but have now decided to just leave her be and let her get used to the hustle and bustle that is happening outside her enclosure. It is actually pretty calm where she is but just letting her hear us rather than pulling her out. She ate a little yesterday and walked around a bit before she went back into the hide.
Would you advise us to leave her alone like this for now? Thanks!

sounds good but if you see her out...... Talk to her, let her see you and if that goes well open her enclosure and place in your hand..... Don't touch her but let her get used to you invading her space and allow her to investigate if she pleases.... build up small steps over winter and as spring comes and she's more active you'll have done alot of the ground work.

Love it! We will absolutely do that! Thank you!

you'll also be spreading your scent in her space and this will make it less lightly to for her to become enclosure defensive.
I’ve heard people put shirts or a piece of clothing with their scent on it in the enclosure. Do you think that is something that may help?
