I am Katie and our family just took on our newest member, Wiz. We actually had no plans to get a Tegu and our knowledge was quite slim. But about a month ago we were at a local flea market and one of the vendors had a shop with an assortment of reptiles and rodents. We saw Wiz and our heart went out for the little guy. The people selling the animals didn't seem to know what they had. (seeing as they were trying to feed him dog food) The set up was rather sad and the details of his history were very vague. The story goes a young boy and his family bought him and after the boy lost interest in him and they decided they couldn't care for him properly so they gave him to the people we received him from. So when it comes to age and the details about Wiz I'm at a lost. (partially why I am here) It is clear he hasn't been handled much but we are working with his trying to build his trust and create an environment he can flourish in. I look forward to learning from you guys and sharing our journey. (p.s. any guesses on his age? And I believed he is an Argentinian Black and White but I'm not sure now that I've seen the Colombian Black and Gold)

Definitely a Columbian. I would guess 1-2 yrs based on the pics. glad to hear you're giving it a good home. First tegu I had was a black and white Columbian just like yours. Calmed down for me after a couple months of gradual interaction. They love to burrow and hide so be sure to provide adequate substrate and a hide box so it will have means to hide. Good luck!!!

Thanks for all the help! I would have never guessed his age. We have a enclosure system right now his favorite thing to do is bury himself and hide. But I'm going to look into getting him a box to hide in!
